I have some excessive salivation and feeling slight feverish since wednesday. Could I have gotten rabies from the guy I kissed and who bit my lip 12 days ago? He was bit by a stray cat exactly a day before our kiss and he is feeling well now.

There is no method to detect with certainty that rabies transmission has taken place or not. Confirmation either way is also not possible. Initial complaints of rabies infection are non specific. For transmission of rabies in this case cat has to be bitten by another animal with rabies. Cat must get germs circulating in body. Then should bite that guy and tansmit rabies infection. This guy should have circulating germs in his blood after variable period of incubation period. Then that guy must transmit rabies virus in your blood. All this is not likely. But there is no fool proof test to confirm all these possibilities. To overcome these dilemmas and overcome the anxiety take opinion of local general surgeon and both should complete the five injection vaccine course at the earliest and forget the incidence.
