Vanajaji, the disorders related thyroid both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism are not curable. They can only be controlled. Hypothyroidism is controlled by taking thyroxine tablets for life time. In case of hyperthyroidism, anti - thyroid drugs like neo - mercazole are usually used of 18 to 24 months, if hyperactivity is reduced or controlled then drug is stopped. Normal activity may remain for some time. If again hyper activity is resumed, then radio active iodine or surgery are the other options looked at.
