Hi Dr. I'm 26, my 3 wisdom teeth have been removed recently, remaining 1 is inclined and is attached to the nerves. It doesn't cause any pain or any such problems. Will it be problematic in future? Should it be extracted? And if yes will there be any chance of paresthesia? Also is rct also required for the same?

Will it be problematic in future - Yes , certainly. Should it be extracted- Only if there is a complaint. And if yes will there be any chance of paresthesia - Depends on how traumatic tooth removal is. However parasthesia can be recovered. Also is rct also required for the same- We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment.

A full mouth x ray (opg) will help assess the position of your wisdom tooth. If it lies very close to the nerve, a cbct may also be required for exact localization of the nerve in relation to your tooth. Removing such wisdom tooth may or may not cause paresthesia. Extraction of such tooth is not necessary if its healthy. But extraction might be needed in other conditions for example if it is badly decayed or impinging on adjacent tooth or associated with some pathology. You can visit a maxillofacial surgeon, who will assess your condition and provide you with suitable treatment options.

Hello, Please share radiograph or CBCT of the concerned area. If tooth and surrounding tissue is sound and healthy then you can delay the extraction step. RCT also needed if everything is alright other then angulation of the tooth. you have to maintain oral hygiene properly to prevent damage to this tooth in future.

Hello lybrate-user. Your wisdom tooth is impacted. I can suggest only after seeing your xray & check-up. Unerupted teeth can also cause problems to adjacent teeth sometimes. If it's not causing any pain discomfort to you & if it's not causing any problem to the adjacent & opposite tooth, it can be left untouched & extracted when it gives problem. But again I need to see your x-ray & check for an appropriate opinion. Yes if it's not removed skillfully it can cause parasthesia. Mild parasthesia is treatable & takes a few weeks to months to get cured completely.
