I am suffering from lichen planus pigmentation for the past four years. Darkening is becoming worse than before. Consulted doctors and they are giving topical medicines like a ret hc, kojivit, melalite and exazel. And they suggesting me for chemical peeling. Kindly provide a solution.

Hello, the pigmentation due to lichen planus is darker, deeper and stubborn. It improves a little with topical creams but may require further procedures to take care of it. Creams are able to reduce the superficial pigment. Lasers target the deeper pigmentation. So a combination of creams, peels or lasers may give better results. Pls follow the advice of your dermatologist and plan for procedures if you feel like it, to get more appreciable results. Please follow sun protection measures strictly as the pigmentation can worsen with sun exposure. Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours if out in sun.

Hi since lichen 0lanus is a chronic and autoimmune skin condition. It takes time to get cured. Recurrance is also common if you have any trigger like itching scratching or injury. You need to contact good dermatologist. And requaired check up to which areas involved and what can be done thank you.
