Hi doctor! my father had fever from october. It got severe like 104 degrees f. So we hospitalized in january. He got diagnosed with enterococcus infection in bloodstream. He was put on antibiotics which was an injection injected after every 6 hours. So it was a course of approx 40 injections. In february he again got fever after a week or two after stopping injections. So after diagnosis it was found that e. Coli has entered in urine. Again the course started one oral medicine and 1 sachet of fosfomycin in a gap of two days. But after completing full course, now again he is getting fever which is not that high but persistent. From few days now he isn't getting fever. We again get test done of urine culture so again it is present in urine. So why it is getting back again and again and not properly curing? Note - he is diabetic, had hepatitis c, have liver cirrhosis, enlarged spleen (14. 5 cm)

Diabetics are prone to repeated infections. Sugar is food for bacteria. It is important that his blood sugar is maintained. Meanwhile of course antibiotics will be required. Small tips like drinking enough water will also help.
