hi,dear Lybrate user, Pregnancy lasts up to 40 wk ,decided into 3 stages,called,List, trimester,2nd trimester & 3rd trimester. it may some time happens, pregnancy , may mature less than estimated date as pregnancy due date is not measured,accurately take,care.

Normal duration of pregnancy is 280 days i. E. 40 weeks. But because of baby's condition like reduced water od abnormal doppler reprt etc, or mother's condition like high blood pressure etc can be responsible for early delivery of the baby at 34 weeks also. So it depends on why it is advised.
