This leads to hypothyroidism. One of the cause is said to be excess consumption of salt through food. (iodinated salt). This is the major cause of hypothyroidism in usa. In india it is less common. Women get it more often. A person with ht usually has other family members also having some or the other autoimmune condition. Some of them may also have another autoimmune disease too.
