My mother is suffering from controchodritis since a year or two but last year in november she found it difficult to breathe and was almost at the death bed we somehow revived her and rushed to the hospital. Doctors suggested certain medicines and the pain gradually decreased. She is a single kidneyed patient and so she cannot take hard pain killers. So mild pain killers are given to her and therefore until its effects are shown she already suffers much pain. Now again this year this year at the same time she is suffering from the pain. The swelling of the breastbone can easily be felt. So what is the possible thing to do now.

Cold compresses can help reduce swelling in the area. Cooling also helps to numb sharp pain. Apply an ice pack for up to 20 minutes, up to five times a day. Use a frozen gel pack, ice cubes in a plastic bag, or a bag of frozen peas. Wrap the cold pack in a soft towel. Do not apply a cold pack directly to skin. Heat therapy Heat helps to relax tense muscles and soothe a stiff area. It can help with muscle pain and bonny pain. Use a heated gel pack, heating pad or a hot water bottle.
