My brother's wife is cancer cured - left breast, more than 8 years. She is healthy now, working as well. I would like to know whether her daughter, 26, is taking medication for thyroid, may have this disease on hereditary basis, in future.

See, to ascertain whether it was genetically related she has to check her BRCA genes, usually BRCA 1and 2both are checked and if positive then chances of inherited breast cancers are high. Anyhow, it may be slightly psychologically troublesome as not all cases will develop cancer and there may be other risk factors aswell. She should still go for regular breast self examination on monthly basis, five days after periods are over and can go for mammography after may be 10years as she is only 26.
