Hello lybrate-user after a certain age a person's digestive system becomes weak and so such problems tend to happen. Make sure she eats food atleast 2 hours b4 sleeping. Avoid drinking water immediately after food, just 1 or 2 sips and then after about half hour she can drink water. This will help in digestion because if you drink too much water immediately after food it dilutes the acids in the stomach needed for digestion. Avoid staying hungry. That also causes acidity and burning. She can try taking some otc antacids before food like rabeprazole or pantoprazole. If she can, ask her to walk around the house. Physical activity will again help digest food and avoid acidity n burning. Please feel free to contact me for any further queries.
