Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. The tablet Dytor (Torsemide) is a diuretic, is given in situations when there is lower limb swelling following either high BP or some issue with kidney functioning. In your case swelling is in just one ankle, the reason for that needs to be looked at. Dytor is unlikely to be the drug for that. Another important aspec is your being in grade 1 obesity with a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 30.07 kgs/Sq meter(Normal < 23 kgs/ Sq meter). This probably points to uncontrolled hypothyroidism along with probably least physical activity. Since there is no mention of TSH, T4 & T3 as well as dosage of levothyroxine being taken, there is no way to comment any further. You have an excess of almost 18 kgs. That could also be the reason for swelling in the ankle. So please do not take Dytor. If you have any questions please do come back.Thanks.

You need to get a proper treatment instead of using meds.

Dear preeti, selling in only one leg in someone with hypothyroidism could be due to filariasis varicose veins or venous thrombosis or rarely pretiabial myxedema. Dytor will reduce the swelling but it can cause electrolyte disturbances. If you do a dopper study of the leg veins you can find out if there is venous thrombosis or varicose veins. Treatment will depend upon the diagnosis regards professor m s seshadri.
