I am 21 years old female. While running in a park I twisted my ankle in a small pit and fell down. I got up ,was in a bit of pain while walking but I ignored it .after around 3 hours I returned home, it was still painful and I was even not able to walk properly, so I wrapped a crepe bandage. After around 7 hours I removed the crepe and it was swollen alot and pain shot up very high, so I wrapped it again and took paracetamol coz I was unable to sleep. Now its been almost 15 hours the bandage is wrapped. Should I unwrap it and apply volini and wrap it again or I should leave it on? I don't know what the situation of my ankle is now and I can't even walk properly still. Will he waiting for a reply. Thanks for your advice in advance.

It can be sprain or fracture. Do x-ray of affected ankle. Rest prevents further injury and avoids stress on already inflamed tissue. Put the ankle joint at rest by wearing a brace or splint. Ice is probably the best treatment. Ice will counteract the increased blood flow to the injured area. It will reduce the swelling, redness, and warmth. Applied soon after the injury, ice will prevent much of the inflammation from happening. Compression can help keep down swelling. Compression wraps, such as ace bandages, do not provide much support to prevent movement of the ankle, and you should not apply them tightly. Elevation (keeping the injured area up as high as possible) will help the body absorb fluid that has leaked into the tissue. Ideally, prop the ankle up so that it is above the level of your heart. You can do this in a reclining chair.
