Hello - three weeks ago, I had a painful sore throat accompanied with fever and fatigue. The sore throat was very painful in the first week and then it became mild. The fever was gone after two days but the sore throat continued until now (more than three eeks). I have taken azithromycin for 5 days and a pain killer. Currently, the pain comes and goes but I mostly feel pain when I swallow food and drink. The tonsil on one side is swollen. Otherwise, no other symptoms right now. No burning feeling. No fever. No bleeding from my mouth or in my saliva. Just pain when I swallow food, drinks and my saliva. Doest this sounds like serious? I am worried since it's now more than three weeks. Thank you! ng.

It sounds like reflux. Laryngopharyngeal reflux needs dedicated treatment. It does not need any antibiotics.
