Is hydroquinone a steroid? My dermatologist suggested me to use depiwhite for the pih left by acne. Since depiwhite contains hydroquinone, is it safe to use it? I still have some active pimples and closed comedones.

It is not a steroid but you should use carefully and short term like initial 1 month or less because it deposited in the skin as crystals and causes dark pigmentation which is called ochronosis. Once ochronosis is developed it will very difficult to treat.

Hydroquinone is not a steroid, it is a phenol derivative used to treat hyperpigmentation. It is not safe to use for a long time. For active pimples use clindymycin/ b.peroxide/ adapalene cream or whatever cream used earlier prescribed by a dermatolgist. Start treatment of pih once the lesions of acne are gone and fully treated. Thanks.
