I am a 41 years old woman. I hv a small brown patch visible under my right ring fingernail. I have had no injury to my fingernail. It is extremely painful. It?s been stationary. What could it be? I feel like there is a small growth under the finger nail. Pls help!

Melanin is a brown colored pigment. These deposits are usually grouped together. As your nail grows, it causes the stripe of brown or black to appear on your nail.
