She is being treated for bipolar depression, and not schizophrenia. She should never discontinue her medication without doctor?s advice. Please take her back to the doctor and let him prescribe her medication and insist on her taking it regularly. You are the only support for the execution of this prescription. Your wife will argue and say that she is feeling better etc. These do not become reason enough to self-regulate her medication. Whenever she feels like that, take her back to the doctor and seek his advice and you help her follow the prescription. The other thing that will help is to have her go for counseling. This is mandatory to help her cope with the various pressures of life and to develop skills and techniques to deal with every day routines to remain functional. Be firm with her but with lots of love. Tell her that the decisions regarding the medication will be consensually taken for her own interest.
