My son aged 12 years 9 months has developed gynaeco mastia for the last 1.5 months. He complains of pain when the area is touched or when he is running. He sounds a little effeminate but otherwise, he is quite normal as a growing boy. His lh is borderline whereas his other two tests are normal viz. Testosterone, and fsh. Can his condition be treated/cured with medication only? Or, do I have to go in for a surgery which I wish to avoid. People say that such cases are about 20 to 30% in male adolescent population. Most of such cases will just vanish away- is what people say. He is still so small and I wish to avoid surgery otherwise the scars tend to get visible. What should I do, surgery or medicines? Please advise or recommend a doctor for second opinion. Also, at this point of time, I do not have a job. I have been laid off due to covid19. Can't afford the hospitalization expense.
