I had a hole in my ear canal so used ciplox-d drops in my ears but unfortunately it formed a hard white layer on my eardrum and blocked it. Now even earwax has made up a pile on it. I'm not able to hear properly now. What should I do. However a doctor replied me and recommended soliwax ear drops for me. But I want to ask whether these ear drops can remove the hard white layer formed due to ciplox-d?

There is a possibility of wax formation in a perforated eardrum only if it is not discharging for months to years. If it has discharged recently then this should be either thick inspissated discharge or debris. In case of wax soliwax will help in liquifying or softening the organised wax but if it is thick inspissated discharge then it should be cleaned manually as it is causing blocking sensation/decreased hearing in the ear.

Hi Lybrate user, don't try to fix these issues by your own, go to nearest ent specialist soon possible and get the video otoscopy or endoscopy done, see the exact status on the monitor screen and if necessary you may have to go for surgery in future. First get the testing done, then share the reports so that I can guide you in a more precise way. Don't worry!

Dear lybrate-user, first of all the hard white layer is due to chronic inflammation/infection. And not because of the ear drop, which is given prior to surgery of ear which is the standard treatment in such cases.
