If breast milk is not sufficient, lactogen formula can be combined with the advice of pediatrician. You can give lactogen formula after breast feeding.

Yes you can give formula feed. But I would recommend you to continue breast feed as much as possible. U can have consultation regarding ways to feed a baby and how to increase breast milk supply.

See bm is always sufficient for baby. Exclusive bm is recommended till 6 month. If you are trying for fm than please don't give immediate after or before the breast feeding. Always try fm 1 hour before or after the breast feeding .please read the instructions given on fm packet. Thanks.

Hi lybrate-user, if baby slept well after bf then no need to give formula. If baby remained hungry or crying even after bf then only you should give formula.

Try with breast milk. If that is insufficient, only then can you try formula. Babies are on demand feeds at this stage. Your baby may take 70-100 ml every 2-3 hours at this age. However be cautious about overfeeding as even that can cause your baby to vomit.

Is the baby passing urine 10-12 times in 24 hours? Is the baby gaining weight? When feeding from one breast, does milk fall from the other? If answer to all this is yes, then donot worry. The breast milk is sufficient. I would recommend exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months and continuation for 2 years with other complementary feeds. But if formula feeding is unavoidable, then correct dilution to be maintained and absolute hygiene to be ensured right from preparing the formula to feeding the baby. Bottle feeding should not be done. Katori and spoon feeding is advisable. The amount of formula to be given depend on the baby's weight. A healthy baby can consume 50-60 ml of milk at one time.
