Bitten by my pet who hasn't been vaccine since 2 years have bitten me at 3 o clock in the afternoon. I got a tetanus injection by 7 in the evening. Is it be fine if I take the anti rabbies vaccine by tomorrow evening. Won't it be too late since it's a bad bite. Can you please recommend the anti rabies injection I should take and for how many days?

However whenever there is any bite by domestic animal like dog or cat accidentally by monkey or any contact with a bat see a physicain most urgently. Who will decide whether animal is potentially rabied or not by circumstances or at times by general condition of the animal normal, abnormal, missing or dead. Bite provoked or unprovoked and bite to other persons in locality. Any bite by street dog which cannot be identified, located and supervised for a week is taken as of rabies. There is no certain fixed time gap of infection. Physicians after proper history, circumstances, type and depth of injury decide whether anti virus vaccine is to be given alone, along with immunoglobuline, no injection at all. It is safer if animal had recived vaccine within one year. But in reality has not much protective value. Normally 5 injections are given in upper arm spread over about 28 days. This iis called post exposure vaccination. There is no scientific cure for rabies disease till date. Vaccine is usually safe and has no adverse effect if taken by normal and non infected person.
