Bipolar disorder is difficult to treat and requires skill. Treatment depends on the current phase (depression/mania/mixed). Improvement takes time as there are chances of the patient going into the opposite phase that he is in. Discuss the medication, maximum doses, alternative medication and their risks with your treating psychiatrist in a separate session.
