The last of my teeth has been removed last week. I am now toothless. Waiting for the heeling of the Bone on which the Dentures will be mounted. Before the making of the denture-casts for the upper jaw and the lower jaw, I understand Alioloplasty needs to be performed on the jaw-bones to smoothen any protrusions in the bone on which the dentures would be resting. What is Alioloplasty ? How long does it take ti heal after Alioloplasty ? What are the steps to complete the the dentures, after Alioloplasty ? and what are options for choosing the Denture-base and teeth-material and the pros and cons of the options ? What about using implant for the lower Denture allowing removal of the denture for cleaning. Are the dentures to be removed before going to bed ?

Dental Implants are the best option for the replacement of lost teeth. The denture can also be fixed with lesser no of implants but that is not as good as the former option and is usually done if one is not ready to spend more. The last and the oldest option is the conventional ages old denture that rests on the left over ridges and for that alveoloplasty is done and the denture is fabricated after three weeks approximately.

Hi, good question but all may not need akveoloplasty it's called repair of,bone. Healing process depends on individuals but my suggestion is whenever u go for dentures allow a healing period of 2 to 3 months when there is complete healing so the denture doesn't bcom loose and implants is the best option nowadays but again depends on it financial status.

Hello sir, alveoloplasty is not done in every case. Its done only when some bony spicule is very prominent. It is basically grinding or smoothening of sharp bone.If its minor it hardly takes time to heal else approx. 1 week. Denture base can be metallic or acrylic both are good. Acrylic is cheaper n metal one is costlier.Metal one has more life but acrylic has more esthetics since it corressponds to gingival color.Tooth material is also of many qualities depending on the cost.Yes implants are a very good option for fixed dentures.Removable dentures have to be removed at night .

Alveoloplasty is the reshaping of the bone crest to attain a smooth uniform level of bone for proper retention , stability and support of dentures. It takes generally 3 weeks to 8 weeks fr complete healing. The dentures are made from acrylic, lucitone, dpi etc. Implant supported lower denture will provide better support and retention. Yes dentures should be removed before going to bed,for proper recirculation of gums(alveolar mucosa) at night.
