Hello, my son is having high cavities in upper and lower, front and back teeth. I showed him to pediatric dentist today and she told me that we have to do root canal to save his teeth and make a scope for new teeth to come out without issues. I agreed to that. She was saying to do it with help of laughing gas as my son was not very much cooperative in session. Now, my questions are, 1. Is it safe to do root canal in 10 teeth for 3 year old kid. 2. Is laughing gas anesthesia good? Will it make my son to be cooperative in session. 3. Is general anesthesia is better?

Laughing gas is conscious sedation. Usually rct is done in that these days. It will be done comfortably without causing your kid any pain. Usually we do two or three rcts at a time.in conscious sedation.in general anaesthesia all rcts are done in one go. That too in a hospital set up.

If rct is what is required, its very much ok to get it done in a 3 years old, irrespective of no of teeth. Laughing gas anesthesia i.e. Conscious sedation is the most prevailing and accepted choice for kids. If your Dr. suggest it for your kid, you can go ahead.

Hello it is absolutely safe to get the root canal done in 10 or more teeth. Laughing gas is safe & good option for uncooperative children. It has 90% chances to make your son co-operative. Try general anesthesia only when laughing gas doesn't works. General anesthesia is also a good option but not better than laughing gas.
