Thanks for your question. 1) bleeding gums for a prolonged time may be due to gum inflammation mainly gingivitis.(depending upon its grade and severity it may be of several types). 2) all we know that if our oral hygiene is poor it may cause infection in our gum and surrounding teeth. Bleeding gum is a infection of gingiva caused by various bacterial species depending upon its severity. 3) oral hygiene maintenance is the 1st line treatment followed by oral prophylaxis (scaling) and regular tooth brushing particularly at night. Use 0.12% chlorhexidine m/w regularly twice a day initially.
