I hurt my knee while playing football. Pain went away after 2 weeks. But I felt something strange and doctor advised to take mri. Mri report summary tells "horizontal tear in the body of lateral meniscus. Mild joint effusion" I do not have any pain now. It has been 6 months, but if I stress too much like running or jumping, I can feel a slight discomfort around knee area. Should I go for key hole surgery or is there some therapy which can cure it.

Dear Mithu , Meniscus tear often leads to problems like Pain, swelling, stiffness and difficulty in extending the knee Also intermittent locking of knee while playing and walking Also meniscus tears have grades 1 to 3 Often grade 1 and 2 not required surgery depends upon patients problems If you have no problems in Knee like pain and swelling on locking of knee than you can avoid surgery. If symptoms appeared later than you can think later on Hope this will help you to take decision As a Thank you
