I am 32 year old male suffering from severe heartburn with a choking feeling in chest. My doctor performed ecg and other tests and ruled out heart problem. Gave medication for acid reflux. currently taking lansoprazole 30 mg in the morning and ranitidine 150 mg after dinner. The choking feeling in chest is severe at night and also while eating making it difficult to swallow food. Its been 3 weeks but there has been no improvement. Please advice how I can get relief. Is choking feeling in chest a symptom of acid reflux? I have no other symptoms and I am able to breath normally.

Hi Lybrate-User, I appreciate you seeking help. Advise get a gastro-esophagoscopy done by an experienced gi specialist and consult with test results. The choking sensation may be due to reflux-esophagitis which can be ruled out once you get the above mentioned test done. Keep your diet & lifestyle streamlined. Avoid hot, spicy, oily, sour foods and stay well hydrated. Take care & best wishes.
