My blood pressure reading is 124/97. Can it be okay through food habit and exercise or I need to take medicine.

Dear lybrateuser, - You can follow some lifestyle measures to lower it: - have a salt restricted diet, avoid fried, processed & junk foods, also avoid pickles, papads & namkeens, restrict tea, coffee intake to 1-2 cups per day if you take more, also avoid alcohol & smoking if you do - have more of fibre containing foods such as green leafy vegetables, fruits, whole grains instead of refined ones, beans, lentils, pulses, sprouts, peas, nuts, have fat milk & milk products, tofu, soya products, have heart healthy fats as in fish, olive or canola oil for cooking, avocados, nuts and seeds such as flax & chia - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, cycling & yoga to relax your mind and body & also to keep fit - sleep well for at least 7-8 hrs at night, keep your sleep and wake up time fixed - de-stress by listening to light music or do meditation or deep breathing or follow a hobby - try to reduce weight by diet and exercise.
