Dr, I am a diabetic female my blood pressure was normal .Yesterday i consulted with an internist After climbing 18 steps he checked my BP.It was 160l100.He told me to start Vascodipine 5mg daily,after 1 hr i checked my BP again it was 123l79.today morning it was 133l80.should i start this medication or not .I am araid.Please suggest

No...first of all get relax and dont get stressd.. go for bp monitoring for minimum 5 days in morning and evening and then according to reault give follow up or start medication...

For diabetes patients the target bp is less than 130/80 mm hg. I would recommend you to have a bp check right in the morning after you wake up. if this is more than 130/80 on 3 different occasions then you needs meds. or else you don't.

An elevated bp jus on one instance doesn't need any medication. get ur bp checked on 3 diff occasions on diff days n if still it s more, then u may need medication. but since ur bp was elevated after straining, it means u need to work on that. kindly check if ur weight s on the normal level. wit out the details of ur age, weight , associated symptoms etc we may not be able to assess ur condition properly...

Dear Once we start medicine for sugar / blood pressure it has to be taken life long,only the dosage may vary according to B.P.control. So my advice is to record your blood pressure in standing and sitting position & at rest and note the readings, in any case if the lower reading is above 90 you have to use medicine. If the lower reading is between 85 & 90 you don't require medicine but you should control your diet, salt and brisk walking for 40mts is a must.
