No one is going to compel you, it is your own choice to give vaccines. Because all vaccines provide protection against illnesses and prevent the occurrence or at least reduce the morbidly, mortality, in that sense, it becomes essential to give vaccines. Indian Immunization program includes highly cost effective vaccines which are available for free at all government hospitals and primary health centers. Some others are costly and many people can not afford to buy those vaccines which are not available at government centers, hence they are called as optional or additional vaccines. Those who can afford should give them. Nevertheless all approved vaccines are useful.

If affordability is not an issue, these vaccine should preferably be given. There is nothing compulsory though. Vaccination will help your baby grow immunity against the disease. It is safe to start the missed vaccine at current age of your child. You should give it as soon as possible. For pneumonia vaccine - one single dose is sufficient at this age. For typhoid vaccine - 1 dose now and then repeat dose after 3 years of age. There is no requirement to wait till 5 years for these vaccines to be given.
