My dad who is 62 years old he is having bypass surgery 15 days before. His fasting sugar level is 64 and post meal is 228 .What insulin unit I give?

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. The fasting Insulin is very low, where as after lunch is slightly high. In this situation, night dose has to be lower and prelunch dose may have to be higher. However it is difficult to answer without knowing all the details like what type of insulin is being used, how many doses are given. Is this a rapid acting, or combination or a long acting analogue. It is best to consult his local physician who is knowing the condition better. Thanks.
