Hi, my wife has fallen from stairs and hit on the backside of the head 5 days ago. She is having headache sometimes and one lump has emerged on the impact area, on touching lump she feels pain. No other symptoms are present. Can you please suggest me, is it serious if yes which specialist doctor to consult.

She has lump in the scalp which is separated from brain by a thick scalp bones. So this is superficial injury considering five days past injury with headache as only symptom. However you may take consultation from physician or if required neurophysician.

Dear Kiran, most likely after the Fall your wife head had hit a hard object she has a Hematoma of the scalp (sub galeal hematoma) . If she doesn't have any problems in walking and balance or speech it could be a superficial injury and this Hematoma will resolve in 3 to 4 weeks. However if she has persistent giddiness it is better to have a CT scan of the brain done. Sometimes this kind of Hematoma may require surgical drainage thank you
