Dear Lybrate User, There is no one toothpaste fits all since you need to use something that can help you overcome your dental problems or help maintain a healthy state so to say. Check with your doctor on the toothpaste necessary for your condition. There are a range of options. The general recommendation would be for one that has Fluoride in it to keep cavities at bay. Use a soft bristled toothbrush preferably along with flossing, inter-dental brushes and tongue cleaners to get the mouth cleaned everyday and twice to be right. Ask your doctor for the right technique.
As per my personal experience Pepsodent germicheck is an excellent toothpaste moreover you can use mouthwash brand of Himalaya Hiora mouthwash as it is alcohol free and the Ayurvedic ingredients give you excellent results.
Paste is definitely better than powder as tooth powder is more abrasive and will abrade the teeth.
Use mouth wash half an hour after brushing.
Clohex ADS is good.
