Last month I was tested for hypothyroidism with TSH reading at 36.59. Presently I am on Uthyrox-25 mg to be taken on empty stomach daily morning. In what other ways I can reduce the TSH reading i.e. Any natural diet I should follow. Please guide me.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. With TSH 36.59 mU/L, the starting dose of Levothyroxine should have been much higher, as 25 mcg is too low. When on treatment with appropriate dose of thyroxine TSH has to be maintained <4 mU/L, for checking all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Only precaution to be taken is to avoid soy beans and soy containing foods. Plus you should consume a good deal of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Always use whole grain flour for chapati and roti. Do not consume foods made from maida and bakery items. Plus exercise daily for 1 hour and keep your weight in check. Present dose of levothyroxine should be at least 87.5 mcg to 100 mcg per day. Then you eill have to check TSh after 8 weeks to see what is the effect. Thanks.
