Hi lybrate-user, Antacids and other drugs prescribed to reduce stomach acid often result in further irritation and heartburn. Simple substances found in the household kitchen are the easiest and safest way to cure gastritis. 1. Honey: A special type of honey called manuka honey is considered a helpful remedy for gastritis. It is produced from the flowers of manuka bush. Manuka honey contains a unique anti bacterial chemical called methylglyoxal. It is effective against H. Pylori bacteria. The recommended frequency is taking one tsp of this honey twice a day one hour before the meals. It is beneficial to keep taking ½ tsp straight from the jar at least four times additionally. 2. Vitamin D: Vitamin A is one of the essential vitamins useful in providing relief from Gastritis. Vitamin A helps in making the lining of the stomach healthy. Vitamin A is antioxidant in nature and helps in boosting the over all immunity of the body. It is advisable to consume about 5000 IU of Vitamin A daily for a healthy body. Some of the food stuff high in Vitamin A content are sweet potato, apricots, pumpkin, lettuce, mangoes, papayas, carrots etc. 3. Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 is another very important vitamin which is soluble in water. The deficiency of Vitamin B12 leads to chronic Gastritis. Vitamin B12 helps in the generation of red blood corpuscles and is also a very essential vitamin for the formation of DNA in the body. It also helps in boosting the immunity of the body. This Vitamin B12 also helps in maintaining a healthy lining of the stomach by stimulating the immune system to work efficiently. However persons suffering from gastritis are unable to absorb the vitamin B12 and hence need to consume more vitamin B12. The recommended daily dose is 2.6 micrograms for adults. Some foods having high content of Vitamin B12 are beef, eggs, seafood, milk, lamb etc. Hope this helps. Good luck.
