Triphala is a combination of three medicinal fruits viz. Hareetaki, Vibhitak n Amalaki. It is normally mixed in equal quantity weight to weight. Powdered fruit rind is weighed equal n mixed properly. Fine powder is normally used 2 to 6 grams once or twice a day with warm water depending upon the requirement. Coarse [powder is usually used for external use eg washing of hair or the filtered Triphala water of is used to wash the eye. It being a medicine, must be taken/ used under medical supervision. Its use for a longer period is normally not recommended because of the reason that its withdrawl may cause hardness of stool due to its traces in intestine and produces astringent action (Kashay ras in taste). Triphala can be used in all age groups.
