I have a three months old baby. I had a normal delivery. I would like to get a loop (IUD) inserted. But I am very scary that it might be dangerous. I would like to know that is it painful? Does the health care provider give anesthesia before insertion? I would like to keep it for 3-4 years. Shall I opt it or not? Are there any side effects?

IUCD can be inserted after 6 weeks of normal delivery .it is a one time method ,can be inserted for 3, 5or 10 years as you desire .it's inserted on 5th day of your cycle .if you want early removal it can be removed. It is not inserted under anaesthesia ,there is slight pain during insertion .there are no major side effects ,but if it does not suit you, it can always be removed.
