I am taking istamet 50/1000 mg and vogli rapid 0.3/1 morning and evening. When I getup from bed sugar measurement is about 135 mg/dl. After 1 hour of Walk and exercise it increases to 160. After breakfast it goes to about 200 and after breakfast about 1 hour later if I do 1 hour exercise, it reduces to about 145.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Normally blood glucose is checked as fasting, which almost 10 hours after night meal. Then PP which is 2 hours after taking a meal including breakfast. Then third is random, which is any time during the day mostly in the evening. Sometimes when a person has very labile blood glucose, meaning control is not good at all, then we ask patients to take a prelunch, predinner if needed a post dinner and one at 3 am. Otherwise earlier method is preferred. Please understand blood glucose will not remain at the same level all the while, because apart from Insulin which a patient is asked to take to reduce glucose levels along with oral drugs (which also increase Insulin secretion, some reduce insulin resistance and help its action). Body has few other hormones which try to maintain adequate blood levels of glucose if it goes down. These are called counter regulatory hormones. So in the morning your fasting may be less. But when exercise is done, body utilises more glucose. This can lead to reduced level (hypoglycemia) so from liver glycogen is converted to glucose so there may be slight increase in blood glucose level. So you need not worry about those minor variations. What is important is to see that Fasting, PP & HbA1c% are in the expected range. Ihope your doubt is cleared. If not please do come back. Most iimportant is to maintain HbA1c% <6.8 or 7%. Thanks.
