Inguinal hernia occurs due to protrusion of a portion of intestine through an opening due to weakness of abdominal musculature due to old age,obesity,raised intra abdominal pressure as in chronic constipation,lifting heavy weight .small hernia may not require surgery but large hernia has to be treated by surgery to prevent complication like gangrene,strangulation,intestinal obstruction etc.

hernia is swelling in the groin region due to weakness in abdominal wall musculature. swelling usually appears on standing, walking and exercise and disappear on lying down. surgery is the only treatment. medicine don't work.
