Hello. I understand that you are concerned about yellow teeth. Before you try home remedies, I would suggest you to first find out the cause that your teeth are yellow. Ask yourself the following questions first: 1. Have your teeth been same colour as now or are they progressively getting yellower? 2. Do you have any symptoms like sensitive teeth? 3. Are there any medical issues such as acid reflux or gastritis? or ketosis? the reason you need to understand the cause is very important. Teeth are made of a very tough outer'white' layer called enamel which protects the teeth. Inner layer of the teeth is called dentin which is sensitive and yellowish in colour. Sometimes foods that contain pigments tend to stain the enamel which gets discolored over time. But medical conditions like acid reflux tend to wear out the outer enamel and the underlying dentin begins to show through and whitening treatments in such cases will lead to more damage. Also note that whitening treatments (especially home remedies) use some kind of agents that cause mild abrasion of enamel. Therefore understanding the cause of yellow discoloration is important in safe treatment of the same. If you are sure that you do not have a weak enamel/do not have any medical condition that may cause acid erosion of enamel, you could try the following home remedy - mix a teaspoon of baking soda with juice of half lime to make a paste. Wipe your teeth with a tissue paper/cotton to dry them, apply this paste and leave it on for a minute or two. Gently brush using a soft toothbrush and rinse your mouth. Use this with caution - not indicated for weak enamel. Never overdo this as it leads to sensitivity. For a more accurate assessment of the cause of discoloration and professional treatment of yellow teeth, consult a dental specialist.Â

Hi the natural colour of our teeth is not absolutely white. It is rather, a yellowish or greyish shade of white, depending upon the structure of the teeth, thickness of its various layers, etc. It might also darken slightly with age related wear and tear. Having said that, a recent change to greater yellowish shade might usually indicate accumulation of plaque and calculus deposits, which are rough, and may further accumulate stains from your food. In this case, any particular toothpaste/ mouthwash might, at best, lighten the shade of the deposits. What you would actually need is a professional cleaning by your dentist to allow you to get rid of the deposits, thereby facilitating longer term maintenance at home by following their home care instructions. Such cleaning will usually produce a visible lightening of the shade of your teeth. If you then feel that you would wish for your teeth to be even whiter, you could discuss the available options, such as tooth whitening (bleaching), direct or indirect veneers, etc. With your dentist, and opt for whichever one you find most suitable for your requirements. Hope this helps!Â

You may try snowdent toothpaste. It creates mild bleaching effect to whiten your teeth. Or you may make fresh paste by mixing baking soda and water, put it on your tooth brush and brush your teeth (not more that 2 minutes). This home remedy may help you to whiten your teeth. If still doesn't help you then ask your dentist about professional bleaching of teeth.Â
