Dear sir, he is not ready to go to the doctor, near about a year he is out of treatment. Only sometime he take the" depsonil" medicine. But that also not in regular basis, it was prescribed by the doctor before one year. When I beg him to go to the doctor he says he will go. But then when I ask shall I take an appointment then he becomes silent. And near about six months he rarely talks with me. Please guide me how can I motivate him and make talk with me and how can get reach of a doctor for his treatment and counselling. Please please show me the path. Thanks radha.

He is not following the prescription and therefore he cannot gain the benefits of the medication. Erratic use is also devoid of any benefits. His depression is taking a toll on him and he needs to be forced to go to the doctor. Is there no one else in the house or among relatives whose help may be sought to get him to the doctor? he himself is not motivated and this languorous state is typical of the condition and therefore he has to be literally carried to the doctor. If all this is not possible, please visit the doctor who prescribed the medication, and ask him to either come on a home visit or to prescribe some medication to be administered via his food or drink and this will get him out of his stupor. Once he is out of this state, he may become more amenable to go himself for follow up treatment. Apart from this he needs psychological counseling for a long time and it is worth finding out someone for this purpose. S/he could visit the person and through the dialogue that will ensue he can become more active and work on some issues to become more functional. Even when he is taking his medication, do not stop the counseling.
