About Signoflam Tablet

Signoflam Tablet is prescribed for people with painful rheumatic conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. This active constituent of this medication belongs to the class of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs) along with Serratiopeptidase (proteolytic enzyme).

Signoflam Tablet works by blocking the effect of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes which make chemical prostaglandins at sites of injury or damage, causing pain, swelling and inflammation.

Signoflam medication eases pain and reduces inflammation. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take Signoflam Tablet. Also, children are advised not to consume this medication.

You should not be taking Signoflam Tablet if –

  • You are allergic to this medication or other anti-inflammatory painkillers.
  • You ever had a problem with stomach or duodenal bleeding, such as an ulcer.
  • You have a heart condition, impaired kidney or liver function.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have high blood pressure or blood clotting problems.

Being a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, Signoflam helps in relieving pain. Prostaglandins are responsible for pain, inflammation, swelling and fever. Signoflam Tablet inhibits the action of cyclooxygenase in the brain which is involved in the production of prostaglandins.

    • How long is the duration of effect?

      The duration of the effect usually lasts from 12 to 16 hours, varying from person to person. Therefore, ideally you may take the medicine twice a day. You may get further information from the doctor.

      The onset of action on an average takes 1.5 to 3 hours to start. The effect of the tablet can differ from person to person and if you do not see the effect within 3 hours then you may discuss it with your doctor asking for changes in dosage prescriptions.

      No, there have been indications that the tablet is addictive or habit-forming.

    • Is It safe with alcohol?

      Paracetamol, a major ingredient of the Signoflam tablet, can react with alcohol and cause excessive drowsiness or sleepiness. Therefore, it is not safe to drink alcohol while on this medication.

      Pregnant or expecting women must avoid this medication as it can affect the growth or development of the foetus. You may ask for substitutes in such cases.

    • Are there any breast-feeding warnings?

      It is advisable that breastfeeding women do not seek the benefits of this tablet while practicing breastfeeding. The ingredients of the tablet can transfer through breast milk to your child and affect the child’s health. You may ask for substitute medicines or stop breastfeeding.

    • Is it safe to drive while on this medicine?

      It is advised that you be cautious while driving and operating heavy machinery. You may feel drowsy or dizzy and pain in muscles as well. It can affect the way you go about such activities. Therefore, you must refrain from driving till the course ends.

    • Does this affect kidney function?

      If you suffer from renal impairment or any other kidney related issues, it is advisable that you consult a doctor and discuss it with them about the existing health issues. This will help you avoid side effects.

    Signoflam is a medication which is a combination of Aceclofenac, Paracetamol, and Serratiopeptidase. Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that helps relieve pain. Prostaglandins are responsible for pain, inflammation, swelling, and fever. Aceclofenac inhibits the action of cyclooxygenase in the brain which is involved in the production of prostaglandins. Paracetamol is an antipyretic (reduces fever), work by blocking the release of chemical messengers from the brain, which is responsible for pain and fever. Lastly, Serratiopeptidase is an enzyme, works by breaking down the abnormal proteins at the inflammation site and promotes healing.

        Alcohol can interact with paracetamol, a major ingredient of the tablet and cause you adverse side effects like drowsiness, sleepiness and fatigue.

      • Interaction with Medicine

        Signoflam medicine can interact with a few other medicines and cause reactions that can affect the health of a person. Some of the medicines that can affect your health upon interaction with Signoflam tablet are lithium, digoxin, corticosteroids, antihypertensives, aspirin, clopidogrel, heparin and ibuprofen.
