Mr. Lybrate-user, you have to adjust your diet and do regular exercise so that blood sugar levels are maintained with in normal limits. Consume good deal of green leafy vegetables and salads, permitted fruits about 100 g a day and avoid high calorie foods and deep fried foods.

Yes, it is possible. If the diabetes cannot be controlled with medicines, then insulin is necessary. But if it under control, then it is okay.
Regular exercises especially walking helps to keep diabetes under control.

Not necessarily, In most of the people it responds positively to good habits (healthy lifestyle changes ). Being objective and living a disciplined life can help a diabetic person lead a normal life without any complications. Read more about diabetes from the internet and gain more knowledge and then take precautions. Maintain regular followup with the doctor so that one can review the health (some common tests and other specific tests can be done as advised by your doctor ).

Dear Mr. lybrate-user,
I note that for a height of 158 cm (5'2") your weight of 82 kg is too much. The ideal weight for your height would be 55-60 kg. If you go on a very strict 1500 calorie diabetic diet and walk for 5-6 km per day your weight will start coming down and along with this your insulin requirements will come down
