Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details mentioned. You have mentioned two different combinations 1) metformin plus glimiperide & 2) metformin & vildagliptin. Both these tablets have metformin. In some patients that drug tends to cause gastrointestinal upsets. In that situation patients are advised to take the tablets after taking food. So if you are taking the tablets before food then shift to after food. If you are taking after food only and still the gastrointestinal side effe...more

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details given. However, there is only mention of medication being taken. That does not give any idea about how is the actual glucose control, because there is no information on fasting, pp glucose, hba1c%, dietary pattern, lipid profile, extent of daily exercise and bp readings. As regards changing a brand of metformin hardly matters. Unless above information is provided I am unable to comment or give any suggestions.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
From the given information it is clear that she is already on very high dose of Glimepiride 4 X 2 tabs. Usually there is no benefit in giving such a high dose of glimepiride. Plus she is on Vildagliptin also. It is essential to bring blood glucose level to: FBG <100 mg & PP 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c%<6.8, in order to prevent long term complications of diabetes. Therefore, it is necessary to use Insulin injection like Glargine once a day along with the oral...more

According to the treatment you are getting, I can see the effort of your doctor. I think you should consider taking insulin atleast for one time in a day to control it along with your medication. As you have hba1c of 10.8, it's good for your health to start insulin atleast once daily. Pls consult to your doctor about it or you can consult me online m.
