How and when stop anti depressive medicine? Or Doctors wants to take these medicines for follow up and money? Why any psycratic not told patient about the tenner of medication and live healthy life without medication. If Dr. advise /help patient to stop medicines management then some suicides can be prevented? Depression and anxiety is normal now days and patient shall not be required/forces or advise to take depressive more than 6 month / one years or X years.

Hello lybrate-user, I understand that dealing with mood related disorders are always challenging where deciding the time frame for recovery is not realistic. Psychiatrist prescribes medicine bases on various factors which are case specific and always takes review after a short priods. The reason is to modify the dosage best suitable to patient. Remember medicine itself doesn't cure everything the patient also have to adapt the healthy lifestyle. Recovery is process and medicines are part of it other than this patients should actively participate in self help groups, self care techniques. The complete treatment model consist medicines, psychotherapy, scientific approach of psychological assessment and counselling. Patient's family work as a support network and patient empowerment themselves for continuous care. To prevent relapse patients need to adhere to life style changes, medicine and counselling.
