I have depression from last 25 years and earlier I used to take another medicine and from 2 years I am taking 1 pill of lamitor od 100 and 1 paradise xr 25 at night and 1 tablet of clonazepam 0.5. I want to ask if these medicines are all right and are there any side effects? Also is there any test for depression?

Dear lybrate-user, probably you have been having recurrent attacks of depression more frequently. That is why your doctor has put you on lamitor. Lamotrigine is a mood stabiliser which will reduce the severity and duration of next attack of depression. It may be increased to 200 mg if you don't get desired benefit. Your doctor might have gradually increased lamotrigine dose to prevent serious skin reaction as side effect. If you did not get skin problem in first 6 months or so, lamotrigine is a safe mood stabiliser. Other side effects are not serious. For other drugs and test for depression, please come on private questions. Do not stop drugs without consulting your doctor. If you stop your quality of life will be poor.
