Hi dr, I have a daughter 4 years old, she is 13. 5 kg wght and 99 cms. The adenoids on the nose gets enlarged during this monsoon and child times. She was very fine during summer. The moment the adenoids enlarge she does not have appetite. She refuses to eat anything. Otherwise she is very active and plays well. Her paediatric Dr. Gave her momeflo spray for 45 days along with lasma 4 mg. Adenoids reduced after that but again she has the issue. How frequently can I give her that spray? How long will it take for adenoids to reduce. What precautions should we take. I don't offer her anything cold, always warm good and water I give her. Please advise Dr. Thank you.

You can use spray for 2 months continuously you can use physiomer hypertonic nasal spray (based on sea water) for routine cleaning adenoid hypertrophy usually decreases by 8 years of age you need to look for other symptoms like disturbed sleep, mouth breathing, recurrent cough cold, reccurent ear infections, if child is not havingsuch issues you should not worry weight is bit less, but height is absolultely ok means adenoids are not causing trouble for growth part.

Try this 1. Do saline gargles daily. 2. Whenever possible do steam inhalation also. 3. Cover your nose and mouth with hanky for at least 30 sec when you go in dusty areas also when you go in and out of ac. As our nose is the most sensitive part of our body, when there is temperature difference between two rooms or inside n outside, then if we not protect our nose, it gets affected. 4. Drink hot liquids --hot liquids relieve nasal congestion, prevent dehydration, and soothe the uncomfortably inflamed membranes that line your nose and throat. 5. Sleep with an extra pillow under your head-- elevating your head will help relieve congested nasal passages. If the angle is too awkward, try placing the pillows between the mattress and the box springs to create a more gradual slope. 6. Treat that stuffy nose with warm salt water-- salt-water rinsing helps break nasal congestion, while also removing virus particles and bacteria from your nose. 7. Blow your nose often (and the right way)-- it's important to blow your nose regularly when you have a cold rather than sniffling mucus back into your head. But when you blow hard, pressure can carry germ-carrying phlegm back into your ear passages, causing earache. The best way to blow your nose: press a finger over one nostril while you blow gently to clear the other. Homeopathic treatment has very encouraging results. Consult online for details.

Kindly continue tablet lasma and momeflo spray for a total duration of 3 months. Lasma to be given once a day and momeflo may be given upto 4 times a day. A reassessment by a pediatrician is required after 3 months of proper therapy. If the adenoids are causing a lot of respiratory distress or increasing daytime sleepiness, surgery maybe required.
