Hello, Thanks for the query. Usually treatment with antithyroid drugs is given for 18 to 24 months. Initially started with lower dose, then increased to about 10 mg 3 times a day or twice a day, depending upon the need. Usually it takes over 6 to 12 months or even longer for TSH to return to normal. Then dosage may be reduced or discontinued. However, 3 months is too short a period to judge. In some cases after discontinuing the treatment (after 12, 18 or 24 months) hyperthyroidism does not come back. However, n quite a few cases the condition again comes back. Looking at these facts, it is better to continue the treatment for few more months at lower dose. Thanks.
