My mother got diagnosed with ovary cancer and her treatment is ongoing at tata memorial mumbai. Her first chemo cycle is done and then she got operated to have the affected parts removed. The surgery happened last week and as per doctors it was successful. But I believe all this while, that is since the time she got to know about her condition, she has been in under lot of stress and tension. She keeps contemplating about whats gonna happen and very recently I believe she is having panic attacks because of this. And these attacks arrive suddenly and stay for hours and at times whole day. She is also not able to sleep since past 2-3 weeks. Doctors suggested sleeping pills but overindulgence is not good so we give her in limits. Whenever she gets these attacks her body sweats, heart rate increases, at times heavy breathing, body feels cold and shivers, also she feels like she lost control of body. And at that moment she feels like giving up on her life. Her body is weak predominantly because of cancer treatment but I believe being in a weak mental state also aggravates her condition. We too are feeling helpless and do not know what to do. Please let us know treatment/medication and let us know if these symptoms are all because of her mental condition or if it is something else.
