I am a 13 year old male. For over a year, I have been waking up with blocked nose however it clears after a few hours. Over the past few weeks, the blocked nose has been staying for more hours. Can this be an allergy? What can I do to reduce it? I would like to thank you for reading my question. Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Many thanks,

Hi, This can be basically due to allergy. As you age is very prone for Adenoids which is a normal tissue behind the nose. It's swelling up due to allergy sometimes feels like nasal block. It can be diagnosed with an X ray called X ray Soft tissue neck lateral view. And can be treated with nasal sprays. If it is significantly big then just nasal sprays won't be effective.

Hi lybrate-user, your history is suggestive of nasal septal deviation. There will be a partition between two nostrils normally. Generally it will be deviated minimally to either one side. If deviation is more symptoms may be like what you experience. You can reduce this with medicines, avoid getting cold. I'm sure you are not really 13 years old. Is that right?
