Hello doctor. I took ipill 3 weeks back. Within 1 week I got my period as well. But I have never felt any side effect. For the last few days I'm feeling pain on my right breast around the nipple. Can it happen due to ipill or I should see a doctor?

I pill contains levonorgestrel, which is a progesterone and can cause heaviness of the breasts, but is usually bilateral. If it is a unilateral pain, which persists for 2-3 weeks, better to see a breast surgeon or a Surgical oncologist. They will examine you and if need be, ask for an ultrasound. There are other causes which they need to rule out like fibrocystic changes, cysts, mastitis, abscess and rarely cancer. If you want to further discuss the issue, feel free to contact me directly.
